Cobe Biffed It (Day 4 Part 2)
I can’t end up Day 4 without showing some photos of Cobe’s (my 14-year-old son) big wipe out!
It was the last day of camp. The day before we had climbed three huge hills (as Cobe said, “the most brutal thing I have ever done!”). The instructors saved Columbine (the biggest hill) for the last day.
As Cobe was descending Columbine he came into a sharp turn. He grabbed his brakes and slid across his arm. OUCH! This ended up being the worst injury on our trip. Cobe cleaned it out with soap and water, some antiseptic, and we applied some butterfly bandages to the big gash. It’s healing nicely.
AND looking forward to Silver Rush: Cobe and I started preparing for the Silver Rush Race (which we both happened to win entries into from a contest we entered on Strava) and quite a few riders informed us that mile for mile the Silver Rush is harder than Leadville.
SO…. I’ll post an update of how we ended up there (especially with dead legs from riding the Leadville course the past two days), a video of the start, and other fun stuff tomorrow.
